Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victoria Wambui Ngumi, has been appointed to the Governing Board of the African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD) for a two-year term. This appointment follows her election as the Vice Chancellors’ representative of the AICAD 30 member universities in Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya at the recent Annual General Meeting held in Arusha, Tanzania.

This appointment places her among the key decision-makers shaping the future of capacity development initiatives across East Africa.

AICAD Governing Board is composed of esteemed individuals, including the Principal Secretaries of Education and Treasury from Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, as well as the representatives of the Vice-Chancellors’ from the 30 member universities in the region.

Prof. Ngumi’s election as the Vice Chancellors’ representative at the Annual General Meeting in Arusha, Tanzania, underscores the confidence her peers have in her leadership and vision.

Upon her appointment, Prof. Ngumi expressed gratitude for the trust placed in her, stating, “I am honored to serve on the Governing Board of AICAD and appreciate the confidence the East African Vice Chancellors have shown in electing me as their representative.”

In her role on the Governing Board, Prof. Ngumi will chair the Technical Committee, a vital role responsible for overseeing the implementation of research, training, and extension programs at AICAD.

According to the AICAD Executive Director, Prof. Dominic Byarugaba and his Deputy, Dr. John Kinyuru, this position enables her to contribute directly to the strategic direction and impact of capacity development initiatives aimed at addressing the region’s evolving needs.

With her wealth of experience and dedication to excellence, Prof. Ngumi’s appointment signals a promising era of collaboration and innovation in advancing capacity development across East Africa through AICAD.

AICAD, established in 2000, is an international organisation with its headquarters located at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. The Institute is jointly financed by the three East African Governments; Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Their main goal is poverty reduction in the African region through human capacity development by linking knowledge to application within communities in Africa.
