Background Information

We are pleased to inform you that JKUAT has been fully accredited as a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA). The TVETA established under the TVET Act No. 29 of 2013 regulates and coordinates technical and vocational training in the country through licensing, registration and accreditation of programs, institutions and trainers. This accreditation from the (TVETA) comes from having satisfactorily fulfilled all the due requirements and processes outlined in the TVET Act of 2013.

The TVET Institute based at the JKUAT Karen campus; offers a perfect and serene environment for learning and above standard facilities and resources to students for the empowerment of their learning process. The Institute is governed by a board, comprising renowned, excellent and diverse individuals who are masters in their respective fields with years of experience in executing oversight roles. At the helm of the JKUAT TVET Institute seats the capable and outstanding Director, Dr. Fridah Simba, who also serves as the Secretary to the JKUAT TVET Institute board. She possesses a wide array of management experience having been the founding Deputy Director (2011-2016) and former Director (2016-2022) of JKUAT Mombasa campus. Under her leadership, the Mombasa campus has won several awards, attained global recognition and collaborations; with the campus being nominated as the most preferred training institution in the Coastal Region. The TVET Institute is built on a solid foundation that draws from JKUAT at large, as an Institution of higher learning, largely recognized for its excellence in academia.
