Hello and welcome to the JKUAT Karen Campus Sports and Games section. George Kihara heads the JKUAT Karen Sports and Games Department. In modern education, sports and games activities are incorporated as a crucial and mandatory field for students and faculty to engage in. Today’s educators and professionals have recognized and acknowledged the importance of sports in learning institutions. The purpose being to promote a more holistic development to the participants. Co-curricular activities bear many benefits, most notably: health and fitness, social development, discipline, mental growth and better academic performance.

The Karen Campus department works closely with the Main Campus (Juja), external sports federations, and associations that release Annual sports calendars for various tournaments and friendlies. Over the years, the Department has identified and nurtured talent and continues to do so in Athletics, Tennis, Basketball, Netball, and Chess, with athletes being given the chance to represent the Campus in International events and competitions. As a testament to its achievements, the Department is emblazoned by an array of trophies.

Some of the Notable achievements:

  • March 2022: Netball (Women) Winners in Kenya University Sports Federation (KUSF) tournament.
  • February 2020: Netball (Women) runners-up in KUSF tournament.
  • February 2015: Winners in Lawn Tennis individual game (Women) and runners-up in Rugby in Kisii University.
  • December 2014:2014: Our singles women lawn tennis player Immaculate Elvira, selected to represent JKUAT in the East African University Games, in Kampala Uganda.
  • October 2014: 2014: Champions in Handball, Basketball and individual medals on Lawn Tennis, Pwani University.
